Overview:

These are simple subwoofer cabinet designs that are well suited towards the beginning DIYer looking to get their feet wet and try their hand at an easy to build sub design where the major modeling, cabinet planning and cultist is already done.  With the right driver and amp combos these designs also offer the potential to beat what's offered at the big box store in term of the performance you get for your dollar and/or sound quality and bass extension. 

One goal of these designs was to offer offer good flexibility to suit to builder, each sub working with multiple different subwoofer drivers to fit difference price and performance requirements.  The designs also allow for easy installation of plate amplifiers if you wanted them individually powered or they can be built passive and used with a variety of more economical outboard amps which can often power multiple cabinets.  

Another feature in these designs borrowed from the VBSS is in the use of the precision port flared port tube kits. With the carefully adjusted cabinet depth it allows for additional effective port length and lower cabinet tuning then normally achievable with a more standard port termination for the given cabinet volume and port diameter used.  Thus you get deeper bass extension without additional parts or complexity.
